New IMN Podcast and an Amp of Beauty

The new IMN podcast is up - download it or listen at the site or on WFYI HD2, Thursdays at 4pm and 10pm.

Now, take a look at this beautiful thing. It's a practice bass amp designed for home use and . . . well, for looking beautiful. But it's also built with a click that gets softer and louder as you increase the volume. The aural feedback helps blind bassists know that they're turning the volume up or down because the normal markings or LED lights are useless in that case. There's no audio samples on the site, but this is certainly an amp you could admire for looks as much as for sound.

New IMN Podcast and OS X Lion Compatibility

The new IMN podcast is up - download it or listen at the site or on WFYI HD2, Thursdays at 4pm and 10pm.

I'm gonna wait just a little bit before upgrading to Lion - I'm working on an older laptop and I'm thinking some more RAM may be in order before making the plunge. I also want to make sure the software I used primarily (Reason, Record, Soundtrack Pro, and the odd amp sim) are compatible. Things are looking good according to Sweetwater and Roaring Apps, but I like Create Digital Music's take on this - wait for the all clear.

Fountain Square Music This Weekend

Check out Those Darlins and The Hollows tonight at Radio Radio. If you're in a more generous mood, I'd tomorrow's show with We're Not Squibnocket, Cody Angel, and Sanner Wright. It's a benefit for Friends of Indianapolis Animal Care & Control Foundation. And that's a great cause, BTW.

The Vollrath hosts Chemical X, Bull Hurley, Disturbing the Peace, and Modern Motion tonight. Tomorrow night gets LOUD with Sourvein, Hour of 13, Coffinworm, and Cocaine Wolves.

And don't forget our ever-present stalwarts:

  • Live lounge music at the Brass Ring all weekend
  • Live jazz at Maria's Pizza all weekend
  • Live acoustic music at the Red Lion Grog House

New IMN Podcast and Fishbone Documentary

The new IMN podcast is up - download it or listen at the site or on WFYI HD2, Thursdays at 4pm and 10pm.

Seriously, I've been waiting to see "Everyday Sunshine" for quite a long time now, and it's finally coming to Indianapolis. Fishbone at its prime is a force of nature that cannot be denied, and it really is criminal that (for whatever reason) you don't see more from them. At the very least, you shouldn't be able to talk about how influential Flea and Les Claypool where to bassists without mentioning Norwood Fisher IN THE SAME BREATH. Don't even try another breath. That's disrespectful. Go see it - showings are Tuesday 7/19 at 6pm and and Sunday 7/24 at 4:45pm.

New IMN Podcast and Cloud Music Services

Payment InformationThe new IMN podcast is up - download it or listen to it at the site or on WFYI HD2, Thursdays at 4pm and 10pm.

Hot on the heels of Spotify announcing their US trial run and expanding streaming services, Amazon announced yesterday their $20/year unlimited music storage plan, plus free storage for all tracks purchased on Amazon and an iPad app coming soon. That's $5 cheaper than the iCloud offering from Apple and includes unlimited storage. But you have to upload it all - have fun with that.

And, if you feel like supporting the artists providing this music for you, take into account the information in this graphic and consider maybe a CD or direct donation or something. Click to embiggen, as you'll need a lot of screen real estate to read and see the relationships.
