Wup Bup!

Posted in Fountain Square on April 16th, 2009 by Ryan

The discs are in, so it’s probably time I talk a little bit about this – I contributed a bass track to the latest release from local downtempo, electronica, jazz, and trip-hop wonders Mystikos Quintet, and they’re celebrating the release of the album tomorrow at Indy CD & Vinyl as part of National Record Store Day. The actual release event takes place at 8:15 with a set from the core members of Mystikos (Kyle Hodges and Greg Rode), but the national event takes place all day at the store (and the midtown Luna and Vibes locations as well). Get out and buy some albums, yo!

It also looks like some Mystikos live shows with bass (me) and drums (Richard Floyd) are in the works, so stay tuned for more information on this. I’m really digging the music, and this is going to be some fun.

By the way, the title of the post is the title of the new album. Aren’t you glad you read all the way through?

New Podcast Up and Fountain Square Music Tonight

Posted in Local Music, Podcasts on April 16th, 2009 by Ryan

The new IMN podcast is up and running – download it here or listen at the site or at WFYI.

Also, a quick note about a great show tonight at Radio Radio – Jason Webley (Eastern-European-inflected version of “Hey Ya” on accordion? Still sounds great!) takes the stage around 9 or so. Cheap night out, even if you throw in my root beer of preference. You can hear a little sample of his music on the podcast and still make it out, if you move quickly enough. Enjoy!
