Cursed Venue Strikes Again
This time, it was my handheld tuner that died - the battery wires separated from the connecting socket, forcing me to hold the wire in place with one hand while trying to tune with the other. Time to do some shopping and find a new one. I have a pedal-based tuner, but I keep it in a pedalboard, so its individual portability is limited.
Otherwise, we finished the first rehearsal for the new ACT show yesterday, and the Playboy Psychonauts recorded basic tracks for three songs in hopes of putting out a vinyl release at some point. It'll be interesting to see how the basic basement tracks turn out - some external mixing and/or mastering help might be in order, if only for the fresh pair of ears.

Chris at the Music Garage was a much needed fresh set of ears for the CWs demo. He’d probably appreciate working on something that’s not hip-hop or high school emo. He was geeked about doing audition tapes for high school musical prodigies last night.

Mmm.. vinyl.
hey, do you happen to have any experiences / seen practical reviews of the various USB turntables out there? I’m thinking of incorporating one into my media center, but having never owned a turntable, good, bad or ugly, i really have no frame of reference.

@Steve – I can only imagine his delight in such tasks.
@Jcharles – Not first hand, but it’s easy enough to patch a good turntable into a RCA Y-cord or a good interface – I’d look into that first. Just make sure the turntable either has or runs through a good preamp.
