Earl Greyhound Tonight
I'm unreasonably excited about this Radio Radio show, but only because what I saw hinted at their greatness. At the Monolith festival last year, I basically planned the acts I saw around how many times I wanted to climb the freakin' Red Rocks stairs. There were a lot of them, it was high altitude, and I didn't want to mess with it. Nevertheless, somebody needed food or beverage at some point, and so the climb to the top was made.
What I was hearing made me wish I could have stayed in line a bit longer. Raw, powerful, soulful. And so this time I get to hear them locally.
Without stairs.
And with reasonably priced Sprecher's Root Beer and plenty of oxygen.
Home Improvement
We finally did our bit for neighborhood improvement and got the house re-painted, just in time for it to get battered about by the weather last week. We made it through OK, and we're hoping to (finally) have folks over to enjoy the porch.
This just breaks my heart, though - my bandmates from the Playboy Psychonauts are the rhythm section for Red Light Driver, and their rehearsal space flooded out. Amongst the casualties was a damn fine sounding Stingray bass that now has corroded electronics and some swelling and warping. Luckily, it's going to see some attention from The Bass Kahuna, so hopefully it will come out okay. It does make me thankful I went with the 2nd floor office and didn't think to go to the basement.
