Thoughts from Last Night’s Playboy Psychonauts show

  • As I glanced at my shadow whilst wearing a fez, I noticed I looked kind of like a combination of Buckethead and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.  And I don’t mean that in a good way.
  • A couple from Kansas City said they recognized all of the songs and said it kinda reminded them of “Laugh-In.”  And they meant it in a good way.
  • I’m thinking of a new audio interface.  I may have busted this one.
  • People are mystified by the bass tone.  This is the second show where somebody didn’t believe I coaxed my tone from a production-model American Fender Jazz through a Tech 21 SansAmp.  That’s it, really.  There’s a couple songs with a bass synth patch from Reason, but that’s it.
  • Hearing the band before us do a stellar job on some James Brown material kind of psyched me out.  I gotta work on that.
